North Shore Marine #1289, the Marine Corps League Detachment 1289 — Cedarburg, WI. The detachment dates to 1984, when veterans home from Vietnam and the years that followed wanted a room of their own and a way to keep serving after the uniform came off.
The work is ordinary and steady. A flag detail at a funeral. A winter drive that fills a corner of the hall with gifts. A scholarship evening where the members hand an envelope to a student and then go back to the coffee. None of it is loud. All of it is the point of the charter.
The regular meeting is 1st Wednesday, 7:00 PM. Anyone planning to visit should confirm the night before they come, because a funeral detail or a weather delay can move it. Between meetings the members stay in touch the old way: at the hall, and through the officers listed on this sample site — Cedarburg, WI.

What the notebook says so far
Late summer the detachment looked back at the notebook. This note is a sample of how the detachment might tell that year — Cedarburg, WI.
