Cpl Kevin J Reinhard #189. Its detachment has met since 1982 — Avenel, NJ. The charter came in the years after Vietnam and the years that followed, and the members who stayed treated the monthly meeting as a standing promise: show up, look after one another, and leave the town a little better.
People point to the detachment for the Memorial Day observance and for the quieter help that never makes a program — Avenel. The members would rather be useful than famous, which is why the hall still smells like coffee on meeting night.
The regular meeting is Date/Time: 2nd Monday, 7:30 PM; Thursday: Date/Time: 2nd Thursday, 7:30 PM. Anyone planning to visit should confirm the night before they come, because a funeral detail or a weather delay can move it. Between meetings the members stay in touch the old way: at the hall, and through the officers listed on this sample site — Avenel, NJ.

Showing up for a Saturday of hall repairs — Avenel
By spring the hall had a Saturday of hall repairs underway. Nothing about it was complicated. The Detachment 189 set a date, split the jobs, and showed up. A few neighbors who are not members came for the afternoon and stayed to ask about the next meeting — Avenel.

What the notebook says so far
