- MCL Detachment #592
- Birmingham, AL
- 3rd Saturday, 10:00 AM
In 1948 a handful of veterans chartered Detachment 592 — Birmingham, AL. From that first meeting the detachment grew into a hall that still marks the year with a memorial service, a community project, and a table full of people who know one another’s stories.
The work is ordinary and steady. A flag detail at a funeral. A winter drive that fills a corner of the hall with gifts. A scholarship evening where the members hand an envelope to a student and then go back to the coffee. None of it is loud. All of it is the point of the charter.
The meeting line says 3rd Saturday, 10:00 AM, which is the rhythm the directory lists. Come for the business, stay for the people. The portraits and the posts here are sample material, standing in until the detachment writes its own — Birmingham, AL.

By spring the hall had a Saturday of hall repairs underway. Nothing about it was complicated. The Detachment 592 set a date, split the jobs, and showed up. A few neighbors who are not members came for the afternoon and stayed to ask about the next meeting — Birmingham.

What the notebook says so far
Late summer the detachment looked back at the notebook.
