- 2nd and 4th Tuesday, 6:30 PM
Cpl William H Smith #667, the Marine Corps League Detachment 667 — Bayville, NJ. The detachment dates to 1978, when veterans home from Vietnam and the years that followed wanted a room of their own and a way to keep serving after the uniform came off.
The work is ordinary and steady. A flag detail at a funeral. A winter drive that fills a corner of the hall with gifts. A scholarship evening where the members hand an envelope to a student and then go back to the coffee. None of it is loud. All of it is the point of the charter.
Meetings are 2nd and 4th Tuesday, 6:30 PM, at the hall — Bayville. This page is a sample so neighbors can see the shape of the work. The group itself has not claimed the page, so the stories here are an illustration, written in the voice the detachment might use.

Notes from the first meeting
Cpl William H Smith #667. The year opens the usual way: a short meeting, a full pot of coffee, and a list of local families the detachment already knows. The members voted to keep the Memorial Day wreath on the calendar and to pass the word person to person — Bayville, NJ.

Showing up for the Memorial Day wreath — Bayville
By spring the hall had the Memorial Day wreath underway. Nothing about it was complicated. The Detachment 667 set a date, split the jobs, and showed up. A few neighbors who are not members came for the afternoon and stayed to ask about the next meeting — Bayville.

What the notebook says so far
Late summer the detachment looked back at the notebook. The honor detail had been out more than once, the community table had fed a crowded room, and the officers reminded everyone that the next business meeting is 2nd and 4th Tuesday, 6:30 PM. This note is a sample of how the detachment might tell that year — Bayville, NJ.
