- Legion Post #113
- Port Clinton, OH
American Legion Post 113 Alfred G Dodway, the American Legion Post 113 — Port Clinton, OH. The post dates to 1954, when veterans home from the Second World War and Korea wanted a room of their own and a way to keep serving after the uniform came off.
The work is ordinary and steady. A flag detail at a funeral. A winter drive that fills a corner of the hall with gifts. A scholarship evening where the Legionnaires hand an envelope to a student and then go back to the coffee. None of it is loud. All of it is the point of the charter.
The meeting line says the third Wednesday at 6:30 PM, which is the rhythm the directory lists. Come for the business, stay for the people. The portraits and the posts here are sample material, standing in until the post writes its own — Port Clinton, OH.

Showing up for the Memorial Day wreath — Port Clinton
By spring the hall had the Memorial Day wreath underway. Nothing about it was complicated. The Post 113 set a date, split the jobs, and showed up. A few neighbors who are not members came for the afternoon and stayed to ask about the next meeting — Port Clinton.

What the notebook says so far
Late summer the post looked back at the notebook. The honor detail had been out more than once, the community table had fed a crowded room, and the officers reminded everyone that the next business meeting is the third Wednesday at 6:30 PM. This note is a sample of how the post might tell that year — Port Clinton, OH.
