American Legion Post 133 Marlin Moore. Its post has met since 1933 — Palmetto Bay, FL. The charter came in the years after the World Wars, and the Legionnaires who stayed treated the monthly meeting as a standing promise: show up, look after one another, and leave the town a little better.

By spring the hall had the winter gift drive underway. Nothing about it was complicated. The Post 133 set a date, split the jobs, and showed up. A few neighbors who are not members came for the afternoon and stayed to ask about the next meeting — Palmetto Bay.

Late summer the post looked back at the notebook.
