- Legion Post #1757
- Sackets Hbr, NY
In 1966 a handful of veterans chartered Post 1757 — Sackets Hbr, NY. From that first meeting the post grew into a hall that still marks the year with a memorial service, a community project, and a table full of people who know one another’s stories.
People point to the post for the Memorial Day observance and for the quieter help that never makes a program — Sackets Hbr. The Legionnaires would rather be useful than famous, which is why the hall still smells like coffee on meeting night.
The regular meeting is the second Tuesday at 7:00 PM. Anyone planning to visit should confirm the night before they come, because a funeral detail or a weather delay can move it. Between meetings the Legionnaires stay in touch the old way: at the hall, and through the officers listed on this sample site — Sackets Hbr, NY.

Showing up for the winter gift drive — Sackets Hbr
By spring the hall had the winter gift drive underway. Nothing about it was complicated. The Post 1757 set a date, split the jobs, and showed up. A few neighbors who are not members came for the afternoon and stayed to ask about the next meeting — Sackets Hbr.
