- Legion Post #274
- Ft Myers Bch, FL
American Legion Post 274 Melvin Cowart. Its post has met since 1959 — Ft Myers Bch, FL. The charter came in the years after the Second World War and Korea, and the Legionnaires who stayed treated the monthly meeting as a standing promise: show up, look after one another, and leave the town a little better.
People point to the post for the Memorial Day observance and for the quieter help that never makes a program — Ft Myers Bch. The Legionnaires would rather be useful than famous, which is why the hall still smells like coffee on meeting night.
The meeting line says the second Tuesday at 7:00 PM, which is the rhythm the directory lists. Come for the business, stay for the people. The portraits and the posts here are sample material, standing in until the post writes its own — Ft Myers Bch, FL.

Showing up for the Memorial Day wreath — Ft Myers Bch
By spring the hall had the Memorial Day wreath underway. Nothing about it was complicated. The Post 274 set a date, split the jobs, and showed up. A few neighbors who are not members came for the afternoon and stayed to ask about the next meeting — Ft Myers Bch.

What the notebook says so far
Late summer the post looked back at the notebook. The honor detail had been out more than once, the community table had fed a crowded room, and the officers reminded everyone that the next business meeting is the second Tuesday at 7:00 PM. This note is a sample of how the post might tell that year — Ft Myers Bch, FL.
