American Legion Post 320 Peppy Blount
Legion Post #320 — Gilmer, TX. Service and a meeting hall — Gilmer.
- Legion Post #320
- Gilmer, TX
In 1928 a handful of veterans chartered Post 320 — Gilmer, TX. From that first meeting the post grew into a hall that still marks the year with a memorial service, a community project, and a table full of people who know one another’s stories.
People point to the post for the Memorial Day observance and for the quieter help that never makes a program — Gilmer. The Legionnaires would rather be useful than famous, which is why the hall still smells like coffee on meeting night.
Meetings are the second Tuesday at 7:00 PM, at the hall — Gilmer. This page is a sample so neighbors can see the shape of the work. The group itself has not claimed the page, so the stories here are an illustration, written in the voice the post might use.

Showing up for a Saturday of hall repairs — Gilmer
By spring the hall had a Saturday of hall repairs underway. Nothing about it was complicated. The Post 320 set a date, split the jobs, and showed up. A few neighbors who are not members came for the afternoon and stayed to ask about the next meeting — Gilmer.

What the notebook says so far
Late summer the post looked back at the notebook. The honor detail had been out more than once, the community table had fed a crowded room, and the officers reminded everyone that the next business meeting is the second Tuesday at 7:00 PM. This note is a sample of how the post might tell that year — Gilmer, TX.
