American Legion Post 417 Harbor, the American Legion Post 417 — East Setauket, NY. The post dates to 1946, when veterans home from the Second World War and Korea wanted a room of their own and a way to keep serving after the uniform came off.
People point to the post for the Memorial Day observance and for the quieter help that never makes a program — East Setauket. The Legionnaires would rather be useful than famous, which is why the hall still smells like coffee on meeting night.
Meetings are the first Thursday at 7:00 PM, at the hall — East Setauket. This page is a sample so neighbors can see the shape of the work. The group itself has not claimed the page, so the stories here are an illustration, written in the voice the post might use.

What the notebook says so far

This note is a sample of how the post might tell that year — East Setauket, NY.
