American Legion Post 77 Samuel H Swint
Legion Post #77 — Beech Island, SC. Service and a meeting hall — Beech Island.
- Legion Post #77
- Beech Island, SC
In 1953 a handful of veterans chartered Post 77 — Beech Island, SC. From that first meeting the post grew into a hall that still marks the year with a memorial service, a community project, and a table full of people who know one another’s stories.
The work is ordinary and steady. A flag detail at a funeral. A winter drive that fills a corner of the hall with gifts. A scholarship evening where the Legionnaires hand an envelope to a student and then go back to the coffee. None of it is loud. All of it is the point of the charter.
The meeting line says the second Tuesday at 7:00 PM, which is the rhythm the directory lists. Come for the business, stay for the people. The portraits and the posts here are sample material, standing in until the post writes its own — Beech Island, SC.

Showing up for the winter gift drive — Beech Island
By spring the hall had the winter gift drive underway. Nothing about it was complicated. The Post 77 set a date, split the jobs, and showed up. A few neighbors who are not members came for the afternoon and stayed to ask about the next meeting — Beech Island.

What the notebook says so far
Late summer the post looked back at the notebook. The honor detail had been out more than once, the community table had fed a crowded room, and the officers reminded everyone that the next business meeting is the second Tuesday at 7:00 PM. This note is a sample of how the post might tell that year — Beech Island, SC.
