- Legion Post #781
- Mountain Top, PA
American Legion Post 781 Mountain, the American Legion Post 781 — Mountain Top, PA. The post dates to 1923, when veterans home from the World Wars wanted a room of their own and a way to keep serving after the uniform came off.
People point to the post for the Memorial Day observance and for the quieter help that never makes a program — Mountain Top. The Legionnaires would rather be useful than famous, which is why the hall still smells like coffee on meeting night.
The regular meeting is the third Wednesday at 6:30 PM. Anyone planning to visit should confirm the night before they come, because a funeral detail or a weather delay can move it. Between meetings the Legionnaires stay in touch the old way: at the hall, and through the officers listed on this sample site — Mountain Top, PA.

Showing up for the Memorial Day wreath — Mountain Top
By spring the hall had the Memorial Day wreath underway. Nothing about it was complicated. The Post 781 set a date, split the jobs, and showed up. A few neighbors who are not members came for the afternoon and stayed to ask about the next meeting — Mountain Top.

What the notebook says so far
Late summer the post looked back at the notebook. The honor detail had been out more than once, the community table had fed a crowded room, and the officers reminded everyone that the next business meeting is the third Wednesday at 6:30 PM. This note is a sample of how the post might tell that year — Mountain Top, PA.
