VFW Post 1973 Iowa Sergeant Floyd, the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States Post 1973 — Sioux City, IA. The post dates to 1922, when veterans home from the World Wars wanted a room of their own and a way to keep serving after the uniform came off.
People point to the post for the Memorial Day observance and for the quieter help that never makes a program — Sioux City. The comrades would rather be useful than famous, which is why the hall still smells like coffee on meeting night.
Meetings are the first Thursday at 7:00 PM, at the hall — Sioux City. This page is a sample so neighbors can see the shape of the work. The group itself has not claimed the page, so the stories here are an illustration, written in the voice the post might use.

The honor detail had been out more than once, the community table had fed a crowded room, and the officers reminded everyone that the next business meeting is the first Thursday at 7:00 PM.
