VFW Post 3871. Its post has met since 1961 — Granite Falls, MN. The charter came in the years after the Second World War and Korea, and the comrades who stayed treated the monthly meeting as a standing promise: show up, look after one another, and leave the town a little better.

By spring the hall had the winter gift drive underway. Nothing about it was complicated. The Post 3871 set a date, split the jobs, and showed up. A few neighbors who are not members came for the afternoon and stayed to ask about the next meeting — Granite Falls.
