- Sulphur Spgs, TX
VFW Post 8560 Hopkins County, the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States Post 8560 — Sulphur Spgs, TX. The post dates to 1938, when veterans home from the World Wars wanted a room of their own and a way to keep serving after the uniform came off.
The work is ordinary and steady. A flag detail at a funeral. A winter drive that fills a corner of the hall with gifts. A scholarship evening where the comrades hand an envelope to a student and then go back to the coffee. None of it is loud. All of it is the point of the charter.
Meetings are the second Tuesday at 7:00 PM, at the hall — Sulphur Spgs. This page is a sample so neighbors can see the shape of the work. The group itself has not claimed the page, so the stories here are an illustration, written in the voice the post might use.

What the notebook says so far
Late summer the post looked back at the notebook. The honor detail had been out more than once, the community table had fed a crowded room, and the officers reminded everyone that the next business meeting is the second Tuesday at 7:00 PM. This note is a sample of how the post might tell that year — Sulphur Spgs, TX.
